2nd Fundraiser a Great Success!
Wednesday, March 5, 2008

Tonight my campaign celebrated our 2nd fundraiser, this time at Torrance’s Red Car Brewery - a glowing example of Torrance’s small businesses.

Again I was humbled by the more than 70 people who took the time to rally around our cause. Many stepped forward to volunteer on the telephones and to walk precincts - which is what it will take for our campaign to be successful.

Special thanks to former Councilman and current School Board Member, Don Lee, Councilmembers Bill Sutherland and Tom Brewer, and Mayor Dee Hardison for their great words of encouragement. Also special thanks to Mayor Ken Miller and Mayor Frank Scotto and his wife Cindy, for taking the time to be with us and to show their support. Thank you to Councilman Gene Barnett and his wife, City Treasurer Linda Barnett, as well as former Councilmembers Marcia Cribbs and Mark Wirth...and all the other active community volunteers for making this event so special.

A very special thank you to Janet Payne, Debbie Hayes, and my son Patrick for making sure went off without a hitch.

As I told our guests tonight, the issues for this election are abundantly clear. You’d have to have been on a desert island for the past several years to not know what they are - safety, traffic, overdevelopment, ethics, and our public education. The reason I am supported by all these great people, is that I have been working on all of these issues for many years. As President of the North Torrance Homeowners Association, as President of the Torrance Education Foundation, and my involvement in so many other organizations.

Together, with the quality and type of support I have been receiving from our active community members, I believe we will be successful on June 3, 2008. When I am your next City Councilmember, we will continue the progress of the current City Council.

Thanks again,
Pat
